On a mild and drizzly night we warmly welcomed Thea and Demi for their first goodgym experience. Great to have you along, give them a cheer!

Helena revealed the the earth shattering news that good gym Brighton have not only surpassed their target of running 1500 km in January and completing 80 good deeds they have also topped our division, convincingly beating 3 other areas!! Check out the final table here. Well done to all who contributed on this, let’s keep that momentum going into February.

And as it’s the end of the month we can take a look at the heroes board and see who’s been contributing to this fantastic success. Take a bow Amro for completing 8 Good deeds during January, mostly through missions and coach visits, closely followed by Helena on 7 and Michael on 6. And topping the board for distance covered, well its Brighton Goodgym’s most obsessive runner, yours truly, with Louise and Val in second and third.

Back to Tuesday evening and our task was a great fit for Goodgym as we headed over to Sloane Court which is a council run senior housing scheme with a massive garden! Out tasks for tonight included completely removing the base of a grassy shrub that had been severely chopped back by Amro & Michael during a mission a couple of weeks ago. The shrub had caused a fly nuisance to a neighbouring flat and the severe haircut hadn’t resolved the issue so out it came. Sherman), Roy and Thea got stuck in straight away with Helena on wheelbarrow duty removing the dense greenery and chucking it onto the massive compost heap! Everybody else did an excellent job of weeding a large raised bed, before the rain got heavier and we called time. Residents Tony & Liz were delighted with what we achieved and I’m sure we’ll be heading back to continue helping them keep their communal garden lovely.

Just time for a few short, sharp hill sprints and a tabata of squats and plank before heading back to base in the rain. Thank you Roy for the pun. Keep on running!
