Tonight 35 bouncy runners headed to Myatt’s Field to once again assist head gardener Taye with some hoeing and pruning - we must be doing something right as he has asked us to keep coming back!

With Katie having smashed the Hottest London Marathon Ever only two days ago, she was concentrating on walking, let alone running. So after handing out this month’s Shit Prize to excellent cheerer and 50-good-deeder Freyja, Katie went home to ice her thighs (is that a sports thing?) and Freya was left to marvel about all the square eggs she was going to be making. No more cut corners on her egg-only sandwiches!

“Thanks James Kerry-Barnard! I can’t wait to abhor nature with my new gadget!” Said Freyja.

John led a Fancy Footwork warm-up on the basketball court, consisting of Hopscotch, Double Step and a bit of New Jack Swing choreography. It was largely unpopular but Tom Hunter was not without a certain sass. After this, Dawn led the gang up to Myatt’s for some gardening and fitness.

In the park, the group split in half and one lot concentrated on weeding and pruning, whilst the others concentrated on CONSISTENT PACING. That’s right - the old favourite of running round a circuit in the opposite direction to your partner, high-fiving, turning round, and running back to the start to see if you could arrive back at exactly the same moment. Those who paced themselves and remained consistent should find that they both arrive back at the identical moment. Remember guys, over longer distances, consistency is key!

“If nothing else, we’re much better at high-fiving now!” Said Alex Watkins.

A man called Nihil was interested in what we were doing and partnered up with Tom Hunter to make a consistently great partnership, and then when all the training was done (including one round of consistent skipping), it was home in time for tea (or at least a trip to M&S to decide what to buy for tea).

Nice one gang!

John
