Report written by Joel Wiles
15 sweaty GoodGymers ran 5k to Mabley Green and tackled some huge weeding around a range of fruit trees.
A fun evening trying a new route to Mabley Green to help out Hackney Parks clear a number of tangled weed webs that were stopping the fruit trees growing in the wild meadow mounds on Mabley Green.
Expertly lead to the task by Peter sneaking in a back way and meeting Quentin from Hackney Parks who had gloves for us to pull the huge weed webs that were surrounding the metal cages.
Huge piles of weeds were removed exposing some amazing fruit which we might have tested for research purposes!
As we got in to the tougher to reach weeds the nettles sensed their opportunity and begun a stinging attack! Hopefully nothing to long term but definitely a reminder of not to mess with them.
A quick run back to base finished off a nice evening for GoodGyming action!
Hope to see you next week for Alex’s 50th *, New task adopting a section of River path and social at *Tad.
Don’t forget the Tree Musketeers community mission on Saturday with the Mayor!!
