Report written by David Snutch
Great turnout for tonights task - with 4 regulars absent due to other engagements and the ladies from the US unexpectedly finding themselves in the middle of a house move we could easily have been 20 strong tonight,
The numbers allowed me to split off a sub team of Jim, Carlos, Elaine and Stu and as a result we got a bonus delivery done in the busy town section of the marathon route.
The majority headed off up to New Walk to meet Mel with the leaflets.
We welcomed both Irene and Sharon to their very first group run and in keeping with the ethos of the rest of the group got stuck straight into the task of delivering leaflets to a maze of streets off of New Walk.
The thing I have noticed about the Leicester team is everyone really gets on and is happy to work with whoever. Rachel paired up with Bex and between them attended to the whole of London Rd. Jen, Leigh and Nic formed a team of 3 to attack lower New Walk, Belvoir St Rutland St and Wellington St.
It was a logistical nightmare and I had no idea how it was going to pan out but I learnt that I should never underestimate the resourcefulness of our volunteers.
With only a small bit of waiting for our long distance sub team to finish we all rendezvoused at the New Walk Museum for some well earned cakes, biscuits and juice courtesy of Mel as usual.
I had planned an evil hill session but the interests of time and health and safety (too many Deliveroo cyclists illegally using New Walk) I decided against - after all most had already climbed Mt New Walk twice already so I figured we had all had a good workout.
Nearly 600 leaflets delivered to an area of about a square mile - a fantastic effort by the whole team - believe me when I say that as a marshal section leader for Leicester Marathon for at least 10 years this was vital information you were posting - well done and thanks
