Arrival at Wanstead House

Well, the weather today's been ahem interesting so there was a decent level of trepidation regarding the rain for tonight. However, a little bit of water has not deterred any of the hardy goodgymmers and everyone arrived by foot or bike choosing active travel! Linda and James were there first by bike with Julia just about making it at 6.46pm on her two wheels, with everyone else arriving soon by running for a leisurely welcome chat and briefing about the task. Special kudos to Pauline for attending her first ever group run and by running 5km to the session!!!!

The Task

Tonight, we focused on sprucing up our Wanstead home base with some pruning, weeding, hacking down of overgrown bushes and trees that are obstructing the windows where lovely group of people were doing some sort of tai chi/sword magic! Bet they appreciated an energetic bunch of goodgymmers;)

We separated into 3 mini groups of 2 with Pauline and Vicki clearing up the overgrown area by the door of our mini-room; James and John were in charge of wheeling around a big green waste container and pulling down stubborn ivy from the walls of the community house; Dharmesh and Linda were in charge of cutting down an over-enthusiastic tree/bush area at the back! Everyone did a great job and very quickly too!

The Run!!!

It's so hard to get back into running when group runs were off for so long but tonight we went for a 5km jog around Leyton flats and whilst it was hard, everyone jogged and walked like a hero - great workout on a mild evening with the weather sparing us the deluge of previous hours! And that snail that 'landed' on Linda's glasses didn't stop us either;) **Well done everyone!

Next week we will be in lovely Fairlop Waters - see you there!
