Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Katherine (she/her)
3 Goodgymers got their weekends off to a flying start by helping Leamington Round Table with stuffing goodie bags ahead of this weekend's Regency 10k.
Having had a heavy hail shower shortly before we were due to begin, the executive decision was made to move the bag pack indoors. This meant carrying all the boxes of medals, t-shirts, bags and goodies into the building which was made much easier by creating a human chain.
It was then a case of opening a few hundred packets so that all items for the bags were loose and ready to be packed.
Nigel and Lil became part of the surreal party game where they walked in circles around a big table with their arms out like a scarecrow and acted as a human coat hanger whilst others put bags on their arms and then filled the bags with various items as they walked around the room. At the end of the circuit the bags were collected and tied together on a piece of rope and then passed through the window into the van.
Katherine was on bag duty, testing her buckaroo skills as she attempted to balance as many bags on people's arms as possible (or as many as they would allow her to) before they carried on round the circuit of goodies.
Just when we thought we had finished, another couple of boxes of medals were discovered under some boxes of t-shirts, so more rounds of the never ending game of musical chairs (where the music never stops and you don't get to sit down) commenced to get the last few medals into the correct bags.
1700 bags later, everything was packed away and a celebratory drink and snack was enjoyed!
Really looking forward to the race now when we can hopefully collect an expertly packed goodie bag having just enjoyed a great 10k!
