Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Sam Lefevre (he/him)
Every Sunday between 13:00-14:30, GROAD opens its doors at St. Faith Community Centre (near North Dulwich station) to those looking to donate unwanted goods, which can be repurposed/gifted to the homeless on Tuesday nights. They are always in need of GoodGym's help. This week, they had the help of Bryher and Sam!
It was Bryher's fifth Good Deed after recently moving from Oxford to London in May and only joined GoodGym in June! ๐๐๐ช
On any given Sunday, GROAD would have, at least, 5-8 donaters. However, blame it on the rain or the end of the Olympics (?!), GROAD only received 3 people donating men's, women's and baby clothes (and a tub) as well as books. Those three donaters also came within the first 30 minutes, so we spent the last hour slowly sorting out the donated clothes and moving what had sorted out to the creepy, but spacious shed.
Whether it was the small talk about mental health, the return of parkrun, maternity breast pads (a whole other report would be needed for this) or living in South London, the hour breezed by.
If you are ever interested in helping out, look out for the GROAD community missions on the GoodGym website - usually on Sunday's @ 13:00-14:30.
Donโt let your rejected items end up abandoned on streets or in landfills, where they can sit disintegrating and damaging our environment. Reach out to Get Rid Of and Donate, arrange a free collection for your unwanted goods and help us be there for everyone who needs us.
