The pigeons and weeds out in the street seemed determined to undo our hard work from previous community missions, so we needed to be one step up and show them who was the Boss at St Philip's.

Naomi, Gwyn and Tracey were reunited once more after meeting across the river only yesterday, with high hopes of working on a dream and bringing a little human touch to sprucing up the church's main entrance.

Gwyn was a jack of all trades, clearing up bird waste, loosening weeds with a ramrod-like fork, and being general sweeper-up. Naomi (she's the one with the elbow-power) focused on the weeds that were growin' up in the flower bed and along the edge of the car park, weaving her way skillfully around the used cars. Tracey swapped between tasks (one minute you're here, the next you're over there), doing a bit of raking and some weed picking (the dandelions were tougher than the rest).

Afterwards, with a hungry heart (well, hungry tummies) Gwyn and Tracey tucked into a jacket potato and salad at the community cafe and had a chat with Reverend Sarah, who passed on her thanks for our hard work, and her hopes for glory days to come for the venue;

There's a secret garden around the back of the church, and I have reason to believe we'll get involved there in a future community mission (or two). Watch this space for details. Maybe we could combine it with an exercise session, after all, we were born to run.
