Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Emma (She/they/them)
We had a very impressive turnout for the first Felix Project shift on Saturday morning.
⭐️ Lobo and Emma greeted a birthday party of 8 enthusiastic sports and this was also their first GoodGym experience. ⭐️
After initial welcomes and a safety induction from Maya and Tom, our group of 10 headed to Felix Project’s kitchens. Shoes were swapped for clogs, hair carefully tucked into hairnets, hi-viz tabards swapped for aprons, hands washed, gloves donned aaaaand we were ready.
Split in to two groups with four GG’ers in the prep-kitchen, working hard at cutting up aubergines and de-stemming masses of tomatoes donated by a large supermarket that morning. The remaining six were in the final food-packing area. 90s pop and dance music played around the 120bpm mark: perfect to keep us going! We flew through preparing and portioning over 860 ready meals (around 900kg) of freshly cooked rice and delicately spiced fish curry into individual tubs. Once packed, these meals were loaded onto the Felix vans and off to distribution hubs around London.
Super satisfying! Well done guys!
🎉 Many happy returns to Sanchari and what a wonderful way to start celebrating your birthday with your friends. 🎈 Welcome to GoodGym, you lovely lot. I hope to see you all at some tasks soon.
The Felix Project is a London-based food redistribution charity set up in 2016 to tackle food waste and hunger.
