Report written by Tom Mutton
On a stormy Sheffield eve we welcomed a new runner in from the cold. A huge, warm welcome to
Support and cheer Ines by clicking on her name above. Welcome to the team Ines, great to have you!
Last night we headed off in the blustery wind in the direction of Heeley to help BRILLIANT BEV & RELIABLE ROB of Heeley Development Trust with the upkeep of Heeley People's Park.
We even had snow on the way, but we kept storm Ciara at bay and didn't let the weather get in our way.
On arrival we were welcomed by Rob and Bev who gave us a brief of the evenings tasks which involved moving their very own woodchip (created using the parks own trees) to areas of the park that were in need of some fresh hot chip...
Bev was very excited to show us their new set of GoodGym red buckets that we would be christening (get the pun title now?).
Having done a few woodchipping tasks in the past we were all chips off the old block and mulch fun was had moving the woodchip to the areas in need.
Once the path was covered and raked to perfection, a boulder approach was taken to woodchip spreading as we moved onto the climbing boulder area to ensure soft landings would be in store for any climbers.
Everyone got really stuck in with an efficient assembly line of fillers, luggers and rakers making most efficient use of our time at the park, lovely to see.

Once it got to our time to leave we received a lovely heart felt thanks from Bev and Rob and we headed off to the U Mix center to use the 50m sprint track to get some sprint sets in before heading back to base to stretch and hear what other fantastic gg activities were upcoming.
Until next time, happy running :)
Heeley Development Trust (HDT) is a small, charitable development trust, founded by local volunteers, business people & residents in 1996. We have delivered youth, community, environmental and economic development projects in and around our neighbourhood for the last 20 years. We are working hard, developing a diverse range of income, social enterprises and assets, all with the aim of making Heeley a great place to live, with a real sense of place, pride and community. Our projects include; Heeley People's Park, Sum Studios (saving a Grade 2 listed Victorian School and redeveloping as managed work space – this is bringing jobs and investment into our community), The Heeley Voice - a local magazine and Recycle Bikes – a social enterprise supporting disengaged young people to gain training, confidence, work experience and jobs. If you are interested in any of our projects, would like to get involved or are willing to volunteer any of your time please do not hesitate to contact us or give us your feedback.
