Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Danny
Bright and early today I was along to help set up the Queen's Crescent Summer Street Party near Gospel Oak. There's a lively street market on Queen's Crescent already, but we were there building infrastructure for a host of other outdoor attractions in front of the adjoining community centre. This meant building a stage, and assembling tons of gazebos and trestle tables. It didn't hurt that these were all brand new so no missing parts or rusty joints to contend with.
People had turned-out to help from local businesses, local councillors and the nearby Kentish Town City Farm; a frequent Camden GoodGym task location.
Regrettably I could only stay for an hour or so, but they had things running very smoothly, and clearly had good relationships with one another and with the local community.
A partnership between Queen's Crescent Community Centre and local charities and traders will be putting on a day of activities for all the family to celebrate one of Camden's most diverse streets. It's a day for all the communities in the area and a celebration of what we all have to offer, particularly after a difficult few months of increased knife crime locally.
