Well, I was reminded by a friend that Alexandra was Egyptian and not Roman...so maybe the pun title doesn't work. But, hey ho!

Four GoodGymers met on a misty rainy Saturday morning for a spot of gardening at Alexandra Park in Sydenham. For one of those GoodGymers, Dominique, it was her first time ever! 🎉🙌 Welcome to the family! Trust me, we're nice...and we don't bite 🤔🙄

It was great to see Millie and Lou, who so happen to be Friends of Alexandra Park as well as Friends of Cator Park! Don't think you get that type of deal in a Tesco's or Sainsbury's. Geez, I'm too young for these poor Dad jokes...

Anyway, we got to work straight away with our forks and gardening gloves we started to pull out weeds in the ever so muddy soil. This was actually a blessing as if it wasn't wet, we would be struggling! However, like a bull in a china shop, some of us (not naming names and I've been guilty of this too) started pulling out bulbs and other non-weeds. Still, it was bound to happen as a weed in my eyes could be a flower to someone else (said a professional gardener...).

After two hours of pulling out weeds, piling them up and shifting them in builder bags, we had pretty much completed the task we set out to do! Happy faces all around, but cold bodies, so we didn't hang around for too long and everyone rushed off home.

Next task at Alexandra Park is in less than 2 weeks on the 22nd of May, so don't forget to sign up!
