Report written by Yianny (he / him)
A bumper crew turned out this evening for the Group Run, no doubt spurred on by the Festive Social organised by AImee for afterwards!
AA Yianny was back down to one functioning leg (don't feel bad it's better than when he has none!) so TF legend Sarah was in charge of the runners heading to Windmill Gardens where Jean and the team were waiting.
Well done to everyone on a fun introduction topic as well, we tried to keep it PG-15 but somehow descended into 18+ territory despite attempts to the contrary.
While running there was an odd occurence that one GGer was shouting out at seemingly random moments and he did it repeatedly six times... it would normally be quite odd but we knew it was Joao who was celebrating his 50th Good Deed tonight listening to his beloved Portugal winning their World Cup knockout match. Great achievement Jo and well done for coming out and missing the match to do so!
There was mulching, there was leaf collecting and there was a definite Game of Thrones feeling to weather but of course that didn't dampen spirits.
By 8:30 everyone was back and installed at POP Brixton for drinks, chat and end of year awards.
Well done team another one in the bag, see you all next week!!
The Friends of Windmill Gardens (FoWG) were formed in 2003 with three aims: * to get the Grade II listed Brixton Windmill restored and opened for public visits – in 2002 it had been put on English Heritage's buildings at risk register; * to make Windmill Gardens park a more welcoming space for local people; * to have a new education centre at the windmill. Windmill Gardens gained a Green Flag Community Award in 2015 and we have just been judged again so our fingers are crossed that we will retain the award for the next two years.
