Report written by Tabitha Skinner
Temperatures dropped on Monday night , and so did Brent goodgym's numbers. Five of us met at Pappagayo and knew we had a big task at hand, so wasted no time in warming up and sprinting to meet our task owners Shuwanna and Lucie in Queens park. We were so speedy we arrived ten minutes early! The task was to help deliver Queens Park Community Council local leaflets, full of essential information for local residents, as well as details of their Christmas Fair. We split into teams, with Liz and Monica sprinting off in one direction, and Tabitha, Pete and CJ taking the other. Off we went dropping leaflet after leaflet into the letterboxes. The street had houses on ground floor, upper ground and lower ground so we definitely got our cardio in for the day...up, down, down, up...up, down.
After the first few boxes of leaflets were successfully delivered we met back at the start point and were rewarded with toffees, mints and chocolate coins :) They were really grateful for the help
After regrouping ready to go, Shuwanna and Lucie still had piles of boxes left to deliver...so never wanting to turn down extra work we took another huge stack of leaflets and finished another street on the way home.
Great teamwork everybody! Hopefully see you all next week !
QPCC is the first Community Council in London. We came into existence following the May elections in 2014 after local residents voted for the first London Community/Parish Council to be established. The Council has a unique opportunity to better serve and represent the 12,500 residents of Queen’s Park and we are doing so by focusing on community engagement. We are an apolitical council whose aims are to provide residents with a community they wish to see by improving educational opportunities; improving social and economic wellbeing and improving the appearance of the local area.
