Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Harvey Gallagher (he/him)
A sub-group met up and jogged/chatted around a lap of the park first tonight. It was a humid evening but the chat flowed and the lap was completed in really no time at all. We collected tools, wheel barrows, secateurs and trimmers and headed off to the task. A spiky hedge then faced off with a gang of brave GoodGymers. The hedge was suitably cut back and - it was helpless in the face of this trim lot! The outside of the lovely Transition garden was restored to a tidy enclosure, protecting the peace inside for people of all ages to take a break and spend some time.
Tonight was Mike's 300th good deed - amazing, very well done, mate! He donned the traditional 300 GoodGym sash and thankfully avoided any health and safety issues with his secateurs!
In February 2011, local children planted 21 fruit trees to form a Community Orchard in the overgrown tennis courts in the Lammas Enclosure, between Lammas and Walpole Parks. Volunteers from Ealing Transition have taken on the management of the area and preservation of natural habitats. The residents call on our own GoodGym volunteers from time to time when they have specific tasks that need extra pairs of hands.
