About this session

A few weeks ago GoodGym and Friday Night Lights started a massive project in the heart of London, right next to the Tower of London. We prepared the site by digginfg out 5 huge planters ready for trees to be planted.

Michael, from Grounded Ecotherapy who runs the site, said:

'I wanted to start by saying a huge thank you to Goodgym who joined us last Saturday at Tower Hill. It was an absolute pleasure to host them all and, as usual, they didn’t disappoint! They all absolutely smashed stage 1 which involved moving soil and materials onto the terrace and then digging out the 5 large planters.'

Now it is time for the next part. Here is challenge from Michael:

'We would like to invite you all back for stage 2 of the job, which will involve digging out the rest of the planters on the perimeter of the terrace. These are smaller planters but more of them in number. I have no doubt that your crew will rise to the challenge again. So, over to you. Let us have as many people as you can get'

I reckon we need 80 people signed up: are you up to the challenge?

We'll be meeting again in London Bridge before running around 4km to the Tower of London. This will be a great leg and arm workout. The best way to start the weekend!

What is GoodGym?

Want to do something useful with your exercise? GoodGym is no ordinary gym. We're a group of people who get fit by doing good - helping out local charities and community groups with physical jobs like shifting compost and planting trees.

FAQ

Not sure you'll keep up? GoodGym is for everyone (18+). Whether you've never run before, or are chasing a marathon PB, you are 100% welcome. We always have a back-marker so no one gets left behind.

70% of GoodGym members start as non-runners so if you're new to this kind of thing you will be supported by people who are all on the same journey. 👍

What do I need to wear? Most of us wear gym/running gear. Make sure you're prepared for the weather.

Don't feel like you're fit enough? Our tasks are simple and fun. There are easy jobs as well as more challenging things for those who want a workout! The choice is always yours.

What to look out for

Make sure you've read our general guidelines for safety for taking part in a GoodGym session.

This is a GoodGym group run, with the option of walking too. You'll meet other GoodGymers at the start location and run or walk to the task together. If you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact us by email at southwark@goodgym.org.

The total distance of this group run is 4km.

Remember that we will be running or walking to and from the task, so you'll only be running or walking for half this distance in one go.

Hey, I am definitely not a runner but I would still love to join the task. Would be ok to meet at the local instead?
