🌳 Tuesday GoodGym Group Run: Shepherds Hill Gardens! 🌳
This Tuesday, join GoodGym Barnet for a special group run to support Shepherds Hill Gardens in Highgate—a peaceful, historic park with views across the city. The Gardens are managed by a dedicated friends group led by Pat, but they could use some extra hands, especially as many of the volunteers are now in their 70s and 80s. Let’s bring the energy and help this incredible green space continue to thrive!
🛠️ Tasks We’ll tackle essential work to keep the Gardens beautiful and accessible. Tasks include: • Clearing leaves from pathways and grass • Cutting back brambles and ivy • Collecting rubbish to keep the area clean and safe
🗓️ Plan Meet at the Phoenix Cinema at 6:45 pm for a warm-up and a short run over to the Gardens, or join us directly at the park at 7:20 pm. It’s only a quick jog from the Phoenix, and you’ll be joining a group committed to helping our community stay green and vibrant.
📍 Location Shepherds Hill Gardens, N6 5RE (opposite 60 Shepherds Hill) Google Maps Link
📜 History In 1928, this lush spot was transformed into a local park, with views over Queen’s Wood, Highgate Wood, and even Alexandra Palace. Join us to keep its history alive and connect with our local community!
Lace up, bring some energy, and help us make a difference—hope to see you Tuesday!
Make sure you've read our general guidelines for safety for taking part in a GoodGym session.
This is a GoodGym group run, with the option of walking too. You'll meet other GoodGymers at the start location and run or walk to the task together. If you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact your area activator Paul Salman by email at pauls@goodgym.org.
Options are available to run between 3km and 5km in total.
Remember that we will be running or walking to and from the task, so you'll only be running or walking for half this distance in one go.
Poet, climber, gardener, environmental campaigner, teacher, editor - not necessarily - but usually - in that order.
Comments are a good place to ask any questions you may have about the session.
