Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Let me set the scene.
Monday night, hotel room 113, 10 good gym runners. No ordinary runners. These were the kind of runners who were determined enough to pack their running kit when they left in the morning even though it was heavy rain, were not put off by the overall distance of 10k and were either unaware or didn't care that there was international football on the telly.
Our first task for the evening - Finding the task. With parts of the Olympic park blocked for something called an Eco-marathon (It's a driving thing not a running thing?) We ran up slip roads, round roundabouts, bit of canal path, back round the roundabouts and finally reached our task.
Task two, three and four. We were the first ever volunteers at Pudding Mill Allotments. We needed to clear new patches of allotment, trim overgrown hedgerows and take the protective covers off young trees. We split into three teams and set about our tasks in the evening sun.
All too soon it was time for us to leave. Tools down, group photo and with promise of return we ran into the sunset.
On the way back there was two opportunities to speed up and chase Patrick. A quick blast down the green way and another through Victoria park.
Thanks to all who came and chipped in during Tom's absence. He is away next week also so hopefully see you again next Monday.
