Hi All,
What a lovely evening we had in Chelmsford to mark our 2nd birthday group run than a trip to where it all started. InterAct
Before I go any further I want to say a big welcome to Tim and Carmel on their first group runs with us. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed having you.
We set off from ARU and made our way through the city centre towards InterAct and I had threatened that if we hit any red lights on the road crossing we would be doing squats until they turned green…. They were green (damn)
We were greeted by Andrew as we arrived, and he offered us a cool drink before we got stuck in to the task. And who else was there to greet us??? None other then the man that started it all in Chelmsford 2 years ago, Ken .Who had managed to squeeze in some time on him way home from work.
After Andrew gave some of the people who haven’t been before a brief intro into what InterAct does he set out what he needed from us. We were to move some bags full of sand and a pallet of bricks out from the front garden into the car park, so they could tend to it.
May I say that everyone was so well organised, no sooner had Andrew described what he wanted us to do then everyone had organised themselves into teams. whether it be shovelling sand into buckets or forming a chain gang to move the bricks you were fantastic. We even had time to move a great big wooden crate out of the way too… ** WELL DONE EVERYONE**
With a job well done we posed for a team photo and said our goodbyes to Andrew and Ken and set off.
With it still being hot I thought sprints might not be to everyones liking on the way back, so we did a technique drill of running tall. Hopefully some of you found it useful and hope it helps with your running.
We arrived back at ARU and stretched off and then Catherine became everyones best friend when she brought out some cake…mmmmmm cake. Thank you Catherine, it was delicious.
Next week’s task isn’t confirmed yet but keep an eye on the website for updates
Next months social we are thinking of going for a walk out to a country pub. Any suggestions of routes and pubs are welcome.
Thank you all for coming and see you soon
