Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
32 brilliant runners return to Myatt's Field to support gardening social enterprise Streetscape. They shift leaves from the ground to the leaf mountain, they run 1km reps in record time, and some people get stung by wasps
A dark and chilly night for GoodGym and trainer Katie Welly had lost her voice, meaning the big man James Kerry Barnard did the shouty bits. This week GoodGym are supporting Mental Health Awareness Week by having #runandtalk sessions - there are loads of people that come to Lambeth who would identify with running lifting their mood and supporting them through stressful times. The most vocal of these is probably Mr George Bright, who has written a brilliant blog, HalfRust, about his Iron Man efforts and the strong connection to his increased mental wellbeing.
We numbered off and went on our way to Myatt's Field where we revisited our old friends at Streetscape. We haven't been in months and it was good to be back. The yard was full of wood that needed moving, plant pots that needed to go in the skip and loads of leaves that needed to go onto the compost leaf mountain.
Splitting into groups, some people went and did a mean nearly 1km race around the outside of the park, split by 1 minute of burpees then doing it again - CRUMBS! There were some great times though so well done gang.
Just as we were about to finish some people started saying that they had been stung by wasps!
Katie, we have been stung by wasps! Daniel said
Thinking it was just a spiky branch, they had soldiered on for a long time as they continued to disturb some wasps who were probably having a nap by the tree. Luckily the task was over and we didn't cause a swarm and everyone was very stoical about it. So all that was left was a run back home for our Bake Off sweetstake, this week it was Tom Benson and Jordan making some delicious desserts for us. YUM!
