Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
16 amazing runners ran 5km to tidy up at the MHA Trust charity shop in Blackheath!
It was the second GoodGym of the year and another fantastic turnout which makes me very happy, well done guys! Long may it continue!
The temperature appeared to have dropped quite substantially but it didn't stop this lot! It was great to see lots of you come back again after last week, keep up the good work! And we also had a new runner join us, Ben! Welcome! Not that he is a new runner by any means as he is currently running 100 mile weeks and training for a sub 2:30 marathon... AMAZING! Maybe if we all added our total weekly mileages together, it would add up to what Ben does in one week...hmmm.
Homes Under The Hammer
We went round the table for the intros and this week, everyone mentioned our favourite current TV series. What I want to know is why Steve... if you don't have a TV in your house, how are you watching Homes Under The Hammer hey? That's next level student procrastination if you are catching up with it on iPlayer hahahaha.
Cone flip!
We dropped our bags and went out to do a warm up. Turns out they are filming for a new Sherlock Holmes movie at the Old Royal Naval College but that didn't stop us from using the space! What rebels. Ben kindly brought some cones in so we could play the cone flip game as part of the warm up. So half of the group had to flip the cones one way, whilst the other half had to flip them upside down. 3 minutes of running around and bending down should get you nice and warm! Team DOME won by an absolute mile, so very well done to you guys and commiserations team CUP. We did a few more mobility exercises and then set off.
The MHA Trust shop is about 2.5km from the college and up a rather brutal hill. But of course, always better going up on the way there, so you can just be cruising down on the way back!
We arrived at the shop and Toni had everything planned out for us down to every last little detail! She had a job for everyone! Organisation at it's finest. I should probably take a leaf out of her book. She had people cleaning cabinets, cleaning windows, dusting pictures, hoovering, mopping, cleaning the bathroom, sorting books, tagging clothes, washing up... the list went on! She even had Vickie film the whole thing on the charity's Facebook Live!
Everyone got straight to it. Steve was having a bit of a tough time with the mop and people's footprints but luckily Vickie & Amy came to his rescue with the floor drying towel dance that worked an absolute treat. Ben was hunting for money in the books while other Ben was counting out the 500 piece puzzle to make sure everything was there... because there's nothing worse than getting all the way to the end and not having the final piece! Izzy & Dom were tagging, Katie & Mike were cleaning in the other room, Alex & Gareth were on window cleaning duty whilst everyone else was inside cleaning up.
After half an hour, everyone had finished their job and it was time to go. Not after a group photo of course!
It was getting quite late by the time we got back so just a short fitness session this week. 4 minutes of EMOM (every minute on the minute). We did 10 burpees, 20 sumo squats, 20 lunges and 20 plank jacks... short and sweet but got the hearts pumping I'm sure. After that we had a little stretch and then back inside for some freshly baked peanut butter cookies (sorry Christian)!
I lied to you when I said the task next week was the gardening at the station, that's in a few weeks time, my mistake! It's actually going back to the Charlton URC Church where you will be tidying out the children's room ready for a potential redecorating task in the future! The lovely Adele from Lewisham will be leading as I am going to be whizzing down some slopes but I hope you all have a fantastic time! You can sign up for it here!
Great to see you all as always and hope you have a good couple of weeks! See you on the 26th!
