Twenty whole GoodGymmers defied the rain forecast and were rewarded with perfect running weather to return to the lovely (if slightly overgrown) Brunswick Cemetery. It was great to welcome Natàlia to her first good deed and marvel that Andy had managed to create a second profile for his second good deed so had to complete the online training twice too! The runners were soon off in an Alice Rose sandwich - Alice Rose Whale at the front and Alice Rose Dalrymple back marking - a very effective method we recommend to other areas.
With the addition of "high quality" hand forks and rakes from Poundland (£1.50 each - inflation has arrived at Poundland), the cemetery was a sea of red fighting greenery as oodles of bindweed, sticky bud, grass and dandelions were transported away from the flower beds and paths into the dumpy sacks which were soon full enough for Dom to take on a core workout jumping on/in them.
Whilst Di from the Friends group chopped back the last of the big ornamental grasses, the spiral path was being cleansed and widened (it turns out were going to be able to double the width of most of the path we've found so far, but not more than that, Tim!
Sara was in her element grabbing huge handfuls of bindweed and sticky bud and chasing roots back through the ground as far as the eye could see.
Dom and Jason took on the task of digging out bramble roots and small sycamores armed with only a border fork and trowel - astoundingly successfully.
We didn't really want to leave, except it was our monthly GoodGym Eats arranged this month by Shreena to the new HOBA Kebab, where we found Art with his hand in a glass of ice - he'd skipped GoodGym to go to his unicycle class (no, really) and sprained a finger - that'll teach him.
Another fabulous night of community, progress and a lot of laughs.

There'll be less pesky bindweed taking over the Cemetery

It was great to be back in the magic warehouse of Emmaus for the fab tasks Xanne had planned for GoodGym Bristol.
Moving furniture one way, moving other furniture another way, finding all the books and DVDs around the warehouse, CV leaning the shop's external windows and sorting clothing donations. And getting trapped in the lift without the magic code.
With the parallel task of finding headgear for the final photo, everyone was kept really busy and it was a right old hubbub on an otherwise gloomy day.
Oh, and Liverpool then beat Man U 4-0 so Vaguely Northern Darren was especially happy.
What a way to top off the week that Dave Guest completed his 1,000th good deed - what a hero!

Spring has sprung in Bristol and it was our first "not cold" group run of the year, welcomed in by over 20 GoodGymmers!
Dom joined us from Greenwich as he's relocated to a busier GoodGym (he mught have a new job, too) and David was visiting from Portugal and fitting in as many good deeds and parkruns as he can. Both already know the ropes so it was a sea of smiling GG faces that were soon running around Queen Square
We beat Hugh, the task owner, to the Southville Centre but it was open and we know the routine so we were ready to go as soon as he arrived, blanched at the sheer number of GoodGymmers and agreed that we'd split the task with s fitness session.
There was soon sweeping and painting and hill sprints and squats with a changeover at halftime. Except for Melanie who was lucky enough to demonstrate sumo squats four times.
With a picnic table sanded and painted, the wooden structures re-preserved and planters blackened, the sweeping were tidied and the whole place looked ready for another month's intensive use by BS3 Community whilst GoodGymmers disappeared back to stretch and chat at Queen Square and workout with even more smiles!
GoodGym is definitely back and finding its feet in a new normal.
