Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Louise Chambers
Storm Ciara may have gone but to badly mis-quote John Travolta, we had chills and they were multiplying, and we were losing control (not to mention the feeling) in our fingers.
It was a small but perfectly formed group that met in the warmth of the Bridge House. A big CONGRATULATIONS and YAY to Sam who has notched up an amazing 10 good deeds in the last 2 weeks to take his total to a mightily impressive 107.
Our fabulous five did a quick warm up before we made our way to Melvin Hall, where John was waiting for us. Our task for the evening was to paint some external gates, with the contents of the paint pots looking rather like a large chocolate fondue, or something a little less appetising..
Although it was a satisfying task with progress clear to see, we soon started to feel the cold, prompting Hannah and Fiona to do a keep-warm jig. Bradley nearly backed into the wet paint, which would have resulted in a rather suspect-looking mark, prompting a good laugh and the pun for the evening.
We finished the painting and headed inside for some welcome warmth, however brief. We wasted no time in heading back to our start point, with a brief stop in a local park for some triceps dips and wall sits, before stretching out and calling it a night.
Next week we return to Living Well food bank, a favourite task for many. Sign up here. For those that fancy a bit of a sing-song, Ignition Brewery's karaoke fundraiser, for which we were delivering flyers last week, is this coming Friday at their bar on Sydenham High Street.
