Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Angela Isherwood
Clearly everyone was excited to see David and Angela back again, as 16 runners came to get stuck in with the task for Colchester in Bloom. We met Stuart and Lucy, who have been running a few months, but saw us doing another good deed in the town centre and decided to look us up, and we congratulated Fay, who had completed her 943 mile cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats raising £2500 for Goodgym - what an achievement!
Colchester in Bloom asked us to do a bit of tidy-up as next week the Anglia in Bloom judges will be coming to judge Colchester. Last year, they commented on the litter and weeds on the route, and what are we really really good at? Litterpicking and weeding of course - the perfect team for the job.
We set upon our route, which began at Papa John's and ended at Pizza Express, although strangely, we couldn't find the last section that takes you into the park - clearly my map reading skills were still on holiday.
We set to work weeding and litter picking the route, and even filled up one or two bins. Its a shame that there will be another Friday and Saturday night before the judging as its likely there will be new litter to contend with, but hopefully in a small enough quantity that just one or two people can handle it.
With the judging route clear, we were all ready for some hill reps, and rather contraversially we made our way to Balkerne Hill (not our usual North Hill) to do this. A minimum of 3 reps, and everybody loved it, although Bob did comment that he felt like his legs were in a diving suit on the way back to Leisure World.
Good fun was had by all and another good deed added to our roster!
