Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
23 Warm hearted, cold fingered hot footed it 6k to Core CIC to dismantle anything and everything in their huge new building to prepare the builders to come in and do their thing next week!
We began the evening by welcoming some GoodGym newbies to their first session! Great to have you aboard Team Hackney and hope to see you again next week!
We were lead to the task by Task Force enforcer Clare who under artillery fire ๐ฅ kept her head dodging the explosions as we weaved our way through Hackney. Arriving at the colossal Core CIC building we met Danny the Co founder and also got a showcase in white van driving by Peter who had amazingly brought some extra tools in his work van, parked up and run down to meet the team! Thank you so much PvT ๐๐ฝ๐๐ผ๐๐ป๐๐ฝ.
We had very simple instructions, remove anything you can and stay safe! Easy!! We got to it peeling vinyl off of 2 wardrobes which according to Anna was the most satisfying job she has ever done, removing hundreds ceiling tiles on to the ground and first floor, ripping up carpet and floor boards, and dismantling 2 kitchens. As you do!!
Hammering, ripping, drilling, peeling, sliding at a ferocious rate! 40 minutes of supreme action saw us remove virtually everything that was not plumbed in, then clear it to the bins or stack it for the skip! The effort and work done tonight was amazing!! And culminated by Roz almost bring the house down ๐.
Danny was so appreciative of our efforts and we really look forward to working together transforming the building in the next 4 months!
We said our goodbyes and headed off into the night on the 3k run back! We were not treated to a second firework display thankfully and rather disappointingly I only received 5 high fives on the way back to base, from the looping to the back game. Next week to get us back in the running swing of things we will be doing a few drills and skills with the always entertaining race back to base between the Speedy and Sexy groups!
Have a great week! If you fancy some running fitness action come and join me on Thursday in Kennington for Fitness 4 All all the information is here.
Good luck to everyone running on Sunday in the Regents Park 10k!! You will have a very loud cheer crew as you do your laps! If you fancy running entries are still open! Click here for the information.
Next week we are heading to an old favourite in St Luke's church to help get the church and gardens looking their best for Remembrance Sunday. Be great to see have you along! Sign up here.
Have a great week!
