5 runners ran 4km to help at the Ealing Transition Initiative.... but sadly no one was there!
It was an extremely grim evening in Ealing last night but it didn't stop these lovely ladies from turning up for a good splash around in the rain! We welcomed a new runner Allie to the group and Rachel even came along with a bust up ankle... now that is proper dedication!!!
As of next Tuesday, Olivia will be taking over as the new trainer for the area, so sadly it was my last run with this lovely bunch. Liv took us through a little warm up featuring some classic high knees, butt kicks and the like, then we made our way to Walpole Park to pick up the tools... just the same as last week.
Where are the tools?!
We got to the park expecting a wheelbarrow of tools left out for us, but sadly there was nothing in sight. We headed over to the garden anyway as Trevor usually has some tools we can use and the group wasn't too big today so we thought it would be fine... but no sign of Trevor either!!! But no need to panic, one of our jobs was watering the trees and that was happening on a far bigger scale anyway...!
After a bit of mulling around, thinking of potential things we could do, we decided to just accept the situation and embrace the rain and go on a longer run. Liv took the group around Lammas Park doing some intervals between the 100m markers. We lost Jenni for a brief period but thankfully she emerged a few minutes later after stepping in a huge puddle and getting a soggy foot!
We made our way back to Walpole where we could take a bit of shelter for the fitness session. Liv had planned a nice little core routine, which usually involves getting on the floor doing ab work and planks but this was all standing, so perfect for this gross weather! A few sets of side crunches, front crunches and an evil round of squat jumps later and I think it's fair to say we were pretty puffed! But that wasn't all..!
Indian file!
To finish of the evening, we did one lap of the park in Indian File style which involves running in a line and then the person at the back sprinting to the front of the group. After this we were definitely ready for a stretch! So we slowly jogged back to the start and called it a day!
Thanks so much for coming ladies despite the awful weather! It's been so lovely getting to know you these past couple of weeks and I'm sure I'll be back sometime soon! And if anyone is in Greenwich on a Wednesday evening, feel free to swing by!
