SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Anastasia Hancock (she/her)
We were full of the joys of spring yesterday in Wandsworth as we began our session in the light with a bit of sun on our faces - luxury!
After a warm up we talked about what we would banish from our lives. Answers included tomatoes (X2), cucumber and little bags of dog poo left on the pavement among other things.
It was only a short run down to the school which we'd been at previously to help dismantle a chicken coop and do various other tasks. It was great to see how the place was being transformed into a lovely growing area for the kids.
Our jobs for the evening was to dig over three new beds ready for planting, so with the area already marked out, we got digging. While two teams got working on the large rectangular beds, Eva and Alice were doing something complicated and vaguely algebraic with a stick, string and rocks. Just as everybody else was getting the sleepers into position to make the sides of the beds, they revealed a perfectly circle area dug out of the grass. Such skills!
Well done everybody, that was a lot of work packed into a short amount of time and just in time for planting season.
We hopped on over to the park next door for our fitness session - it was great to be able to use it again and this time we could actually see where we were running!
We started off with a game of rock, paper scissors with a forfeit for the loser, before moving on to a very competitive came of chase the hare. Sophie was our super speedy hare for the first round, before we mixed it up with not fewer than three hares - Jordan, Eva and Katie. It was Jordan who really pushed the pace, going for the finish line at only half way round. Impressive running from everybody!
Next week we have our monthly trip to Doddington followed by a pub quiz social - all welcome!
