Okay so suggesting GoodGym is glamorous may be stretching the bounds of credibility a bit, but tasks that benefit our local community are definitely a worthwhile way to spend a Saturday morning. And with 8 GoodGymmers all prepared to work hard, there’s an awful lot that can be achieved in a couple of hours.

Under the supervision of Andy Goff from Kirklees Council, today’s task was to tackle an overgrown footpath in Almondbury Bank Wood. The wood is usually maintained by a local conservation group, but on this occasion they wanted a little assistance from GoodGym to ensure the path remained passable for local people using this lovely little local wood.

Andy came equipped with an impressive array of tools from trimming, chopping and cutting, and Ben Godfrey had also brought along his trusty sickle or bramble bashing, so we were certainly well tooled up for the task ahead.

We also had a visitor from York, it was nice to see Leanne Allsopp working hard with us once again. Other hard workers included, Kati Law, Louise Galvin, Thom Wood, David, Tom Elcock and the aforementioned Ben Godfrey. Between us all we got loads of vegetation cut back, the pathway is clear and a bank is now prepared for planting some bulbs when we return to the site in a couple of weeks time.

In my book you are all superstars....and if you have 8 superstars in one place that has to be a pretty glamorous get together. So maybe GoodGym jobs do enjoy a bit of glamour after all!
