14 FANTASTIC GOODGYM-ERS RAN 3KM TO STRAWBERRY VALE TO RID THE ALLEY OF LITTER

We welcomed three new runners this evening: Maya and Dorian and Danny – who all did a spectacular job running, clearing and sprinting. Danny joined us from Barnet Council to let us know about a campaign they're working on to promote volunteering in the borough.

We also welcomed a couple of GG tourists: Frances and Marco – who came to the GG Barnet launch back in August.

After a quick warm up outside the Phoenix Cinema we were on our way to Strawberry Vale, with Mark our trusty leader while I backmarked.

It was a nice easy one this week, running in a straight line all the way down to Strawberry Vale. Last time we were here litter picking two local residents stopped to thank us. This time one resident to Heather and Mark that we were brave and the bushes were full of rats. Not quite as heart warming!

After a very impressive 20-minute sweep of the alley for litter, ranging from abandoned footballs to soiled pants, we lined up in front of the Green Man Community Centre to do some sprints. Two teams lined up to charge up the road and back while the rest of the team powered through some fast feet and squat holds. Some fantastic speed from everyone tonight!

We then made our way back to base for a stretch and this week's Barnet Biscuit: The Italian Chocolate Cream Wafer. You can't really go wrong with a wafer.

Next week we'll be heading back to the Nightingale Carehome for the rather unual task of hanging out with the residents. They were all very curious about us after we zoomed in last time to clear out the shed, so they've invited us back to entertain the residents. Many of whom don't get many visitors.

The Nightingale has a handful of charity places available for the London Marathon and has offered them to us. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll put you in touch.
