Who this task will support
RUSS Community Housing
RUSS is a volunteer-led Community Land Trust based in south London, founded in 2009 with the mission of creating sustainable neighbourhoods and genuinely affordable homes. We aim to bring together people and nature to build a more mutually beneficial world. RUSS is building 36 new flats at 12 Church Grove in Ladywell which are aiming to be low-carbon, and will be a mix of flats for sale, shared ownership, and social and affordable rent. Future residents and volunteers have been involved in the construction process since January 2023, and others will join to help build bike and bin stores, finish off flats and communal areas, and plant and look after the gardens. https://www.theruss.org/

Welcome to GoodGym Lewisham!

We're a friendly and social group who combine exercise with helping out in the local community. We meet every Monday evening to get active and do a physical task to help the charities and community organisations in our area.

The Task

This week we are heading to RUSS! They’ve had a large delivery of bark that needs to cover the playground. There are usually other task to get involved with if you do fancy that one!

The Run/walk:

The task is around 2km away in total. GoodGym is for everyone. We welcome runners of all abilities and it is sometimes possible to walk to the task if you would prefer. We always have a back-marker so no-one is left behind - we're about achieving something together, so you'll always be welcome no matter what your pace is.

The Essentials:

We meet at Glass Mill Leisure Centre at 6.45pm, so a short walk from Lewisham Station. We have access to lockers and changing facilities, so you could easily drop in on your way home (bring a pound coin or padlock if you want to use the lockers).

Look out for the red t-shirts, we're very friendly! Every so often we head out after our run for some food and drink, a chance to get to know each other a bit better.

See you soon!

There's space to change and leave bags and toilets. We're not planning to do anything purposefully dangerous, but GoodGym takes no responsibility for your safety during group runs, you participate at your own risk. Participants accept full responsibility for items stored at Glass Mill Leisure Centre, and Glass Mill Leisure Centre and GoodGym will not be held liable for any losses or damages.
