Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Joel Wiles
20 Hackney GoodGymers ran 5k to Hackney Wick Community Garden.
On a celebratory task in H-Town we welcomed in GoodGym newbie Toby and 19 other familiar faces.
To earn our rewards for the evening we got going with a speedy run to and around Victoria Park throwing in longer and faster options for anyone that fancied it to really up the tempo and distance!
After 4K of action we settled in for an 8 minute all action circuit!! Smashing out killer team press ups, lunges and static squats our legs were singing and we had really worked up our reward points!
Nailing the last 1k run to the garden we arrived to an amazing fully in bloom garden! Crazy to see the changes as a direct result of our hard work! Huge pumpkins, squashes which were only planted after our last visit 6 weeks ago but were now massive and formed part of the feast!
After all our hard work in the garden digging huge trenches and filling with mulch for to lay foundations for the polly tunnel, shifting huge piles of mulch and spreading them across the garden, digging down and ripping out the dreaded orange felt underlay, dismantling decking and creating more flower beds oh and the never ending watering!! check out the pictures from our first visits and how much we have done and the garden has changed!!
It was time to celebrate and the wonderful residents laid on a monster homemade spread with all of the fruits, veg and herbs coming from the community garden!
A great time had by all and look forward to many more grafting tasks with Kirsty and the guys in the months ahead!!
We even had a birthday celebration with Amy choosing to share her birthday with her GoodGym family!
big thank you to Peter for helping the squad out by transporting bikes, bags and what ever else over to Hackey Wick!
Big shout out to Ian on probably his last GoodGym run for a while as he is off on a national tour taking on new and exciting challenges, Enjoy!
Next week we will be with Bruce at Hackney Parks, see you there!!
Smooth Running
