10 incredible GoodGym-ers zoomed through a very speedy flyer drop across Elmhurst Crescent and Pulham Avenue on Tuesday.

The team assembled on the steps on the Phoenix Cinema in East Finchley once again, ready to do some good. Shout out to GG Barnet newbie Phil WHOOP WHOOP who joined us for his very first run.

Our task was to flyer for the East Finchley Community Festival, which is organised by Grange Big Local. The festival is happening this Sunday – if anyone would like to help set up for the festival, you can sign up for the mission here. Don't forget to bring your photo ID and documents along to our next group run, if you'd like to do missions and want to get your DBS sorted. This will also mean you can start coach runs, if you'd like to.

We ran up to Elmhurst Crescent, and then straight past it and up and down some hills and allyways before looping back to the crescent. Well done to Ashley for leading us through such an interesting route. The Crescent was only 800m away from the cinema, but we managed to end the night with a total of 4.2km.

On the way to the Crescent, we took a sprint break in a cul de sac, where Phil, Will and Ashley zoomed around a grass patch, clocking up some extra milage while the rest of the pack caught up.

Once we got to the Crescent, we split into two teams: one going left, and one going right. The group posted leaflets through every letterbox at an impressive speed, meeting in the middle. We had a brilliant system of running to the next available house, so everybody kept moving the whole way through.

With all the houses leafletted, as well as a few passing pedestrians, it was time to head to the top of the road for a quick fitness session. Sunlight is fleeting these days, so it was pretty much pitch black in the wooded area at the top of the road. GOOD thing I bought headtorches, eh! Bonus points go to Hazel who brought a headtorch (waist torch?) of her own, plus Mark and Heather who ran wearing my ridiculously oversized headtorches to make room in my bag for the flyers!

After some clever lighting work from Will and Mark, we were all set up and ready to play, starting with some sprints around the circle and ending in some unexpected Tai Chi.

Damian once again led a speedy group back to base, while I took the slightly-less speedy group. We all met back at the cinema for stretches and biscuits: the two most important parts of any run.

Next week we're patching up the garden shed at Nightingale Hammerson Care Home. Join us!

We meet at the Phoenix Cinema at 6.45pm every Tuesday.

Happy Running! Pennie
