It was the perfect sunny weather for a Saturday morning mission at Global Gardens! Once everyone had arrived and said hello, Poppy at Global Gardens explained the tasks that needed to be done.
A hut had been built which is likely going to be used as an educational room and it had been recommended for a trench to be dug around it. It looked like it was going to be quite a physically demanding job but Ellen, Martin, Emyr and Llion were definitely up for the task! Once the measurements had been decided on (about 30cm deep!), they got to work digging.
The other task was to increase the size of an outdoor family area that has recently been made. The idea is that it will be used in the future to do different events with children such as storytelling and even fire making! Lydia and Imy picked up some forks and started getting rid of the grass and roots.
Time passed really quickly while people chatted about what they had been up to and debated whether the new monthly £20 Pret deal is worth it (I promise I'm not sponsored!). Those who worked on making the trench all got stuck in (with digging - not literally stuck in the trench 😂) and had finished it in no time. They then joined Lydia and Imy with finishing getting rid of the grass for the family area. Overall a lovely sunny task!
The vision is to create a growing space that supports community-based sharing of food and cultures.
