From bare legs and arms, to buffs, gloves and thermals - whatever our cold weather wear choice we all met last night to do some good in our local community and get fit while we did it!
and
We had a new task last night at a local infants school, so after a warm up and a discussion about our guilty pleasures - Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Greggs, all of the popcorn, cake, cake and more cake - we set off into the chilly night.
2km later we arrived to find Sheila, the bursar of the school, waiting for us. She let us into the toasty school and for a minute or two we thought we might be spared the cold, but it was not to be. Instead she led us through to a beautiful garden which the children and parents have been creating. There were plenty of jobs to be done, including shifting stone slabs, clearing leaves, emptying bags of compost and planting bulbs.
We divided up into groups and got to work - while Eloise, Mira and Matt got planting, Paul, Remy and Dave started moving those heavy stones, Jon, Alan, Emily and Michelle were busy filling bags with fallen leaves, and Georgia, Will and David tackled the huge pavements clearing them of leaves with brooms and rakes in a very methodical way! Check out those straight lines in the photo...
Job done, we headed back to base, and as a special treat, we did our fitness session in the nice warm town hall. This week it was core and conditioning with different exercises for 45 seconds with a 15 second rest. We did reverse curls, scissor kicks, leg raises, dead bugs, some glute conditioning and finished the whole lot off with a minute of very impressive planking. Great work everybody.
Next week we're going to be helping a community organisation with some digging, which should keep us warm! Sign up here for more Wednesday fitness and goodness.
