13 Glorious GoodGymers were so excited by Christmas that we needed pouring rain to cool us down as we ran 5.5km to Hackney Wick Community Garden to shovel a 3 tonne mound of mulch and move a forest of wood!
We had to wait for our celebrations this week as 100 GoodDeed Queen Amy was typically running late and arrived to a heroes 🦸🏻♀️ welcome to the task! 3 years of consistent, energetic, happy and always smiling GoodGyming to reach a brilliant milestone which has helped so many! Thank you Amy!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
With the wet run down to the Wick complete we got shovelling, shifting the last mulch delivery of the each the 80 metres to be used to help the amazing community garden thrive in 2019!
Shovelling into big bags and dragging at pace the heavy saturated mulch then tipping it out for a seriously solid 40 minute workout!!
With the group gathering pace we diversified and started to bring the huge pile to wood we have helped break up in previous visits into the garden to be used for some exciting Spring time gardening innovations!!
With a messy, muddy and hard work task complete we got treated to some festive refreshments before zooming back to base with a Christmas Social and food giving us a little extra boost!!
Slightly bigger numbers for the social than the run with some added festive dressing up to add a little sparkle. Great food, company, chat and not forgetting to celebrate Amy’s 100 Clare had made an amazing cake even finding a 100 candle!
Thank you everyone for a great end to GG Hackney 2018 enjoy a great China’s New Year and look forward to hearing all about it on January 8th.
Enjoy
