Report written by Tom Peacock
An area down an alley next to Boots in Surbiton could look very different quite soon after a thorough clean-up operation.
We quickly realised there was litter hiding everywhere in this small space at the back of the shops; under the stairs, in the bushes and even in an old display cabinet that no-one dared wonder what might be inside.
"Breathe through your mouth, not your nose," were Petra’s wise words as Dave tackled a particularly whiffy alley, while Emily, Tom, Rachel and the rest of the group picked away.
We made a huge difference in an hour and Stephen Young, Director of Surbiton Art Trail, who is hoping to install some art work in the area, was so impressed he might even make a documentary about us! We got to see Sevan back on Kingston turf and Sabir even found himself a new strimmer.
Hard work but good fun and an appreciative audience. Everyone was a winner.
Uplifts the locality with public art by boosting local artists and inviting global established artists to area.
