8 ran to Broomfield allotments to clear a ditch

Broomfield allotments had a drainage ditch that needed clearing of grass and weeds, so we were just the group to call. after our longer run up there we were greeted with a joke from our host , who then outlined the task. We then began tackling the job with shears and rakes clearing the ditch so that water could flow down it again (should we ever have enough rain).

The plot thickens

Well actually the weeds on one of the plots had become thick, due to the plot owner giving up the plot. So we also helped clear this ready for the new owner.

After much chopping and raking, weeding and clearing we were given some nice cold squash to keep us hydrated and we set off back to base. An excellent run down the bunny walks and back through the university and we had a stretch and debrief before heading for home.

Next week should be a nice short run so we are going to go for a 1 mile time trial after the task! see you there.
