'Twas a delightful evening yesterday in east london, with healthy participation, good folk and some serene water-side gardening, are you not entertained? (sorry Russell Crowe occasionally talks on behalf of me)
Kicked off proceedings with welcoming Mary on her first run, hopefully the start of more to come. Then skimmed over some solid parkruns (partially in the pouring rain) before rolling into our random weekly question: "what's your favourite smell?" Seemed like the natural sensorial successor to last week's well received " favourite sound?" question. Anyway, we obviously had some goodies - cut grass, post-rain earth, takeaway, jasmine (x2), sweet peas, candy floss van (someone's just come back from 'Merica), coriander, fresh bread, sizzling garlic, country-side air and the sea are just some of your olfactory preferences. And they are good!
2 miles later, we met and gret(!) Simon, fresh back from a gall bladder operation, great to see him back in his element, jovial as always. A mass watering operation occurred outside, with 12 of the 16, offering a nourishing to drink to the numerous trees, plants, bushes etc. An elite team of 4 went indoors to deconstruct some stuff, i'm not completely sure what, but trust you did a smashing job.
Before we ran the return leg home, we were shown a model of the new rolling bridge, which they're hoping to get built. Apparently the first of it's kind in the world, certainly looked very neat to the untrained eye. Jade's architectural brain went into ON mode, as she enquired for more info. Can we all please sign the petition that Sharon posted on Whatsapp, will help them get funding matched from Mayor of London cash pot.
Those of you'll running Hackney Half, have a hoot, pace it with meticulous precision and....yeah, have fun! Weather looking perfect, not too hot, maybe cooling mizzle if you're real lucky.
See you all next week, sign up here
Till then
