24 brilliant runners leg it 8km on a sweaty May evening to put bags in bags and move metal things to other places
It was a lovely humid May evening and we had some nice new runners, which is always a good sign. Our short run had to cancel at the last minute so there were some surprised faces as it was announced that we were all off to the Portico. But never fear, as our friendly team of GG Lambeth runners were on hand to get everyone there and back in one piece.
On arrival at the Portico, John gave an explanation about putting bags in some bigger bags and moving some weights from one area to another. A wild rumour started that we were going to move the car that has been parked in the corner for as long as we have been going (about 3 years thanks for asking). Much to trainer Katie's releif this didn't happen as she didn't want to fill in an accident form where a car ran over someone's foot. Phew.
The more relaxed runners headed back to base accompanied by a nice flutter of rain to cool us down. the rest of the gang solved the bags in bags situation and headed back too. We did some lovely stretches and then ran off into the night. Good luck to new Brighton trainer Tara, who joined us on her first ever GoodGym run as well!
The Portico Gallery is a sprawling space that offers everything from yoga to art and pottery classes as well as running monthly music nights and the famous Feast market. The space supports many community groups, including those on low incomes, asylum seekers and other vulnerable people.
