Did you know we only have three Wandsworth group runs until we break for Christmas? No way. Get 'em while you still can!
We had a lovely 25 runners meet up yesterday evening to do some very helpful good and some very silly fitness. It all kicked off by welcoming
Caner to the group - give him a cheer Wandsworth!
We celebrated all things Sian who hit the 50 good deed milestone last night, and was presented with a beautiful chocolate cake to mark the occasion by Lorna. Excellent GG-ing.
Said a big well done to Morag who raced a 10k In Battersea at the weekend.
We then headed outside to do a warm up, and have our weekly survey - this week it was what would be the first thing you'd rescue from a fire? So after some lunges, high knees and jumping jacks we decided we would pick up bank cards, umbrellas, house keys, various humans, dogs, computers and duvets!
It was just a short run to Christchurch school in Battersea where we were met by Colette, the headteacher, who had a job for us in the secret garden that the kids use to grow fruit and veg. She provided us with spades and bags, and we got busy digging out the broken raised beds and saving the soil so that they can be rebuilt again.
It looked easy but man there was a lot of soil in those beds! After 40 minutes of hard work we got a lot out, but we'll be back in January to finish off the job. Great effort everybody.
We discovered a sneaky cut through to the local park, and began our game themed fitness session which started off with the group as a whole trying to protect Sian having a scarf stolen by Paul (unsuccessful) and then Emily trying to get it from Paul (unsuccessful). Both times the circle broke so we declared Paul and Emily the winners. I wonder what the residents of Battersea made of the shouts of 'left!' and 'right!' coming from Shillington park last night! We then divided up into two teams to chase our opposition down, which saw lots of forfeits in the shape of jumping squats and jumping jacks.
After a run back to base, stretches and cake, it was another Monday evening of doing good and getting fit put to bed. Next week we are delivering Christmas cards!. Join us to get on Santa's 'nice' list.
