Report written by Alex Eggs
Tonight we were revisiting an old favourite task after a 6 month absence. We were back at Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park to tackle the ivy which has seized control over large areas of the park throughout the summer months. We set off from our Bethnal Green base, our team of 16 bolstered by the welcome additions of Katharina & Aaron on their first group run. After a 3km run through Mile End Park via the canal, we reached our destination where we were unexpectedly greeted by a warden who kindly offered to show us the way in the dark to the site of our task! Through the spooky woods we went until we identified where we suspected our equipment would be... only it wasn't. After a short game of Find-the-binbag-in-the-dark-dark-woods-using-only-headtorches (one of my favourite games), Chris was the winner after he located the gloves and we could get cracking. The team worked amazingly to form a huge pile of ivy which we divided up and marched to the compost heap to finish off the task. A great job well done in difficult conditions! Thanks for coming everyone, and if you're around on Sunday, please check out the pub quiz against Mile End Parkrun! You can sign up here and would be great to see you there! In the meantime, happy running!
