Five goodgymers assembled at Loris Gardens on a sunny afternoon to do a spot of tidying and weeding. One of the local residents, Simon, popped down to greet us before heading home for lunch, telling us that he would come and join us shortly. Unfortunately the task organiser Myra was struck down with covid yesterday, and so we were left to our own devices. This meant that we couldn't access the tool shed, but that didn't stop us! We had a quick look around the paddock surrounding the toolshed (after a bit of a fight with the jammed gate) to see whether any tools had been left out, but there were none to be found. So we set to work in our gardening gloves, collecting litter and removing as much green alkanet as we could from around the garden.

It soon became apparent that we were going to need more bin bags, so Beth quickly popped home to grab some, along with a trowel. It turns out the trowel has seen better days... as Divy found when he tried to use it to remove weed roots and it almost bent in half. At least it's finally seen some use in a garden before being retired!

Michelle rolled up on her bike, having come all the way from Feltham where she had been on a task already - what a hero, especially considering that we had been at the pub last night to celebrate fellow goodgymer Chris' 30th birthday. Both Beth and Michelle were paying for it today... what better way to blow off the cobwebs than with a spot of goodgyming though hey?

We had the lovely Nikki join us for her first goodgym task - welcome! Whilst we were welcoming, one of the trees in Loris gardens was much less friendly, as it shed a small branch which only narrowly missed poor Nikki. Usually the scenery doesn't fight back to such a great extent, sorry about that!!

After an hour and a half of weeding and litter picking, we had collected 6 bags of rubbish. We grabbed a quick group photo before tidying the bags away into Simon's bins, and headed off to enjoy the rest of the sunshine. Thanks all for coming! The next task at Loris will be on Sunday 15th May.
