Two tasks for the price of one. A great effort from all Woking GoodGym members

Last night we had the pleasure of heading back to Woking Food bank. Just a few donations to put away and then a hoover and a mop of the food bank to help keep it tidy and clean. The foodbank helps to provide emergency food to people in crisis. Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. A simple box of food makes a big difference, with foodbanks helping prevent crime, housing loss, family breakdown and mental health problems.

We split up into two teams, with myself, Anne and Rebecca heading out to do some flyering around the local area. We were delivering leaflets for Home Start. This was to help get more volunteers involved with Home Start. Home-Start is one of the leading family support charities in the UK. It's volunteers help families with young children deal with the challenges they face. They support parents as they learn to cope, improve their confidence and build better lives for their children. Families struggling with post-natal depression, isolation, physical health problems, bereavement and many other issues receive the support of a volunteer who will spend around two hours a week in a family’s home supporting them in the ways they need.

Next week

We are heading down the canal to Beaufort Primary School. Please remember to sign up! Head torches will be needed for this one!
