Belta is basically a word up here in the North East (Geordie) and means amazing or brilliant and we definitely had a brilliant morning! It turned out to be one of my favourite GoodGym Community Missions that I've ever done.
We successfully completed a litter pick in Byker this morning. Our meeting point was at Morrison's in Byker, Liz arrived first followed by Hazel. We were then joined by David who is part of Keep Jesmond Clean and is a keen litter picker.
We were sorting out our equipment when we were met enthusiastically by Annette and her friend. Annette is a keen Cyclist and had got in touch to see whether we could help at all with picking up litter.
We set off across the car park towards the cycle path picking up so much litter (cans, bottles, fast food packaging, cardboard, facemasks)
About 20 minutes in, we excitedly bumped into a group of people also litter picking, which was great for future litter picks, and also very useful as they directed us as to where they hadn't been to yet.
Throughout the morning, we had many people stop to talk, thank us and also ask about GoodGym.
The find of the day goes to Hazel who somehow picked out a five pound note from a hedge! I've decided that we can put this towards buying another litter picker which will benefit everyone at GoodGym Newcastle.
In total we filled 15 bags of rubbish in an hour! (We could have actually continued all day, there was so much)
(Extra kudos and a well done to Hazel who completed her first GoodGym deed yesterday and then returned today for her 2nd good deed! Amazing!)

Amazing! Very sad how people have discarded that amount of litter on the ground though.
