Report written by Bristol runner
One sunny day in September, 8 adventurers ran 15 miles from Blaise Castle in Bristol to Chepstow Castle in Wales, on an epic journey.
Matt had planned an interesting cross country route and did a great job leading the run. We started the run off running through fields of long wet grass to give our feet a bath so they started off "fresh and cool"? There were menacing cows glaring, trying to stop us run through their field but we took them on/went around the edge of their field and battled through. Matt had kindly provided lots of feed stations of blackberries (we had to try them all) which I'm sure provided crucial fuel. We ran by Severn "beach" and were greeted by some dog walkers and cyclists congratulating us, they didn't know what for but we obviously looked impressive somehow!
Next we tackled the Severn bridge which flew by, not literally that would have been scary! Woo we made it to Wales! After another few tough miles we reached Chepstow town and we were suddenly at the castle. High fives all round, castle to castle mission accomplished!
After stretching and a quick photo it was time to go to the pub and get our well deserved cider and lunch along the river.
Huge well done to Richard on his first half marathon plus a few miles, and Lisa and Clo's longest runs ever - Go give them a cheer!
Perfect weather, varied terrain, beautiful views and an awesome group of friends made it a run I'll always remember. Thanks all! Where next...
