Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by York runner
Leanne and I turned up to our mission and what we thought was a small patio area that needed weeding. Unfortunately there were no tools at the property but we were lucky that a family member called by and happened to know someone else in the area, so she ran off and got us a hoe and a spade, bonus!
I love a good hoe
Leanne quickly realised that the next section down the step was also part of the patio and was entirely covered in some sort of rampant weed. She started boshing her way through that whilst I hoed and cleared the top section.
Once the clearance was well underway, we found recycling box lids, a Christmas tree with baubles, a lovely brick BBQ, an old box with some rusty secateurs, a trowel and some toy tools (in GoodGym red), additional rogue baubles, a gardening glove and one black sock.
Loads of tools, look!
We also had a broom with half the handle cut off so I was in charge of the sweeping since I'm the short one and all.
We cleared the whole patio and even part of the pathway down to the rest of the garden. Our work was carefully inspected by the 7 year-old great-granddaughter of Mr V. who confirmed that it "looked better and a lot less green".

Amazing transformation - astonishing what you can do with half a broom!

Don't forget the rusty secateurs. The brambles were no match for them!
