Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by JULIA GLEESON
Go for a run ? I thought you said make a few puns!
This evening we met at our alternative meeting point , Worthing Leisure Centre . Belinda , Sue, Paul and Gill together with Ros,who we welcomed back after a few weeks away, wasted no time in having a quick chat about all thing GoodGym and not GoodGym before heading off on a 2.5 k warm up run to our task this evening at The Rowans , a specialist day care centre that rehabilitates patients with brain injuries.
When we arrived we were met by both Debbie from The Rowans together with Barbara who had run directly to the task helping to put some more miles into her legs in readiness for the Great North Run that she is training for. Kudos to you Barbara -You are doing great!
Debbie quickly outlined our painting tasks for the evening which were located in one of the physio gyms and an activity room. The group split into 2 and got stuck in their various work stations across the 2 rooms.
These puns are a bit sketchy
With Ros ,Paul and Gill working in the gym they quickly did some 'paint walling' activity with Ros in charge of the cutting in and Gill and Paul with rollers. In the activity room Barbara , Sue and Belinda spent a long time masking up the whole area before also embarking on the painting.
You sure do paint an interesting picture with that one.
With the groups merging into one room the team worked efficiently and with their usual energy. to achieve one room completed and great progress in the other. We will return to apply a second coat to the activity room very soon.
With some tidying up and washing of the brushes and rollers and paint containers in the well appointed art room we gave Debbie and Barbara a cheery goodbye and headed off on our return run.
The Gait escape
Depleted to 4 runners and Gill on her bike we took an alternative route back to the Leisure Centre where we did some strength work comprising of wall squats , tricep dips and one legged isolation work . After some brief farewells we rounded the evening up for another week.
Next Monday is a bank holiday . We will meeting at Splashpoint Leisure Centre for a quick sunset beach clean followed by a swift drink in the new pub just near Splashpoint , The Cow and Oak from 7. 15 pm onwards. Everyone is welcome.
Have a great week
Julia :)
