Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Katie
What a lovely afternoon for a run and a spot of gardening!
Sarah and I met, as we made our way along the glorious Greenway. We had a good good gym chat as I picked the brains of the seasoned missionary before I embarked on what would be my first.
When we arrived, both Mr C and his dog were very welcoming. We got our first peak of the overgrown jungle that awaited us through the window and could see it was certainly going to be a challenge!
Mr C assured us that there was a path underneath the dense foliage, and after two hours of hard graft, we found it! In fact we found many things, it was like an archaeological dig. We found many gnomes, a rake, a broom, a hoe, a lone gooseberry and the biggest stalks of rhubarb we've ever seen. (It seems that the pesky vines weren't the only thing thriving in this garden)
Just over two hours of uprooting, chopping and sweeping, and we had transformed an inaccessible jungle to a fruity haven. Mr C can know pick his plums, apples , pears and rhubarb - all of which he couldn't even see before.
Mr C was over the moon. He was so pleased to be able to see his wonderful garden restored to it's former glory and said it will give him a "new lease of life".
A job well done!
(Although, Mr C can now get around his garden, it could do with another dose of green fingered good gymers to really finish off the job...)
