Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by JULIA GLEESON
Another Monday - Another Sizzler
On a break from our usual meeting point we ( nearly ) all convened at Worthing Leisure Centre on another sizzling Monday evening in Sunny Worthing.
GGW roll call tonight was Gill , fresh in spirit but with tired legs from her lunartic marathon on Satuday night together with Barbara and Sue together with Anne , Paul, Belinda ,Nick, Tamsin and lets not forget Roxy rocking her brand new red t-shirt .
After some post task sea swim planning together with an 'Oh no where's Ros - I expect shes waiting at Splashpoint without her phone' discussion we set off on a short warm up run to Kamelia Kids special needs day nursery to find out what our cryptic mystery tour was tonight!
Despite my back marker detour we all ended up in the right place and my group was warmly met by the front running group . Special mention to Tamsin and Paul who had (allegedly) done numerous burpees whilst waiting for us !
Many hands make log work
We were met by caretaker Andy who had a unique task for us tonight shifting logs from the front garden of the nursery to the back compound. This comprised of a walk carrying logs ( both big and small ) followed by a shuttle run back to collect more . Sue , Roxy and Anne especially seemed to embrace the shuttle run , however maybe the others moved at the speed of light ?!
In addition tree branches were swiftly downsized by Gill with her trusty secateurs and assistance from Belinda.
Back in the compound bigger logs were also shifted by the team including Nick , Paul , Andy and Barbara.
There's no skipguising it ( credit to Paul for the pun)
Finally the team did a great job loading the huge bag of working debris into the skip.
Tonights task was relatively short as the team ripped through it with energy and efficiency helped by another great turn out with double numbers which meant more time for what followed !
Tyred but not weary
Whilst the team had been busy with the task Andy and I had time for a quick catch up about how GG could help out in the future.
Sitting in the compound were a number of huge, both in size and value, old tractor tyres donated by a local farmer which Andy has plans for painting for the children to play in . We will return for this task very soon.
The team finished with some fun with one of the tyres doing a few more shuttle runs with it before a final photo and a wave goodbye to Andy.
Spee D'Oh alert
We headed off altogether on a run down to the sea splitting into 2 teams .
Nick led one group on an extended speedy loop around Goring whilst mine took a slightly shorter one but we all ended up at the wild flower bed that we had sowed in early May and which is now filled with a profusion of colourful flowers.
Some core and strength exercises followed including hover, plank, squat jumps and Birthday burpees for Tamsin.
Its not over until its over
We returned to base but on this occasion it was not the end as we bolted on an extra curricular activity - A dip in the sea!
So, in the cars we jumped and headed for the beach where we are delighted to bump into Ros running. Smiles and hugs and then it was time to get the swimmers on!
We whip the air back and forth!
What can I say ?
A swift dip in the warm bath sea mixed with a photo shoot produced one of the best photos we may ever get of the team doing their best wind farm impression :) Surely it must win photo of the week ?!!
