Report written by Gill (She/her)
GoodGym Luton are always happy to help the Luton Conservation Volunteers when we can, and Sunday was no exception. David arrived for a solo morning shift and soon got stuck into clearing back the overgrown undergrowth and cutting back some overhanging elder. Delayed at another task, Gill and Yasin leapt on their bikes and cycled from Kingsway to Stockingstone Meadow for a second shift. They were greeted by Trevor who explained the task ahead and that there were loppers and saws available and that we should ask Andy in the Landy for them. Yasin was detailed with the bolt cutters to remove a damaged piece of fencing that was becoming hazardous to park users, while Gill was given the task of raking back the cut nettles and other soft cuttings and getting them piled up away from the path. There was time for a well deserved tea break with chocolate biscuits,- a fitting celebration for Yasin who managed a hat trick - three Goodgym Tasks in one day - before getting back to cutting off some branches and sorting out some litter.
